After experiencing firsthand the dramatic improvements that Pilates made to her overall physical and mental well-being, Shana Kruger was hooked on the exercise that transformed her life. Today, as co-owner of Miami’s Pilates on the Beach, Shana has set out to help others – regardless of their age or fitness level – reach their health and fitness goals through Pilates. Known for her personalized, fun and challenging approach, she has attracted a loyal following of clients and instructs a variety of celebrities, including former NFL star and two-time Super Bowl champion Robert Bailey; high-profile sports agent and author Jason Rosenhaus; and University of Miami women’s basketball head coach Katie Meier, as well as Miami Heat dancers and Miami Dolphins cheerleaders.

But while Shana teaches an assortment of private and group Pilates sessions, perhaps most impressive is her expertise and certification in the Pink Ribbon Program, designed specifically to help post-operative breast cancer survivors regain a full range of motion to areas affected by breast cancer surgery, as well as to increase their strength, self-esteem and quality of life. She was initially prompted to participate in the Pink Ribbon Program by the request of an oncologist/plastic surgeon who was seeking a resource for breast cancer patients recovering from surgery.

In addition to the Pink Ribbon Program, Shana continues to hone her craft by attending various continued education courses and conferences, and most recently completed her certification in Pathokinesiology of the Lumbar Spine.

Enrolled in dance classes and tennis lessons since the age of 5, Shana’s enthusiasm for fitness dates back to the days of Jane Fonda tapes and legwarmers. A Miami native, she earned a master’s degree in art history, and began her career working in museums and auction houses, before seeking an opportunity that gave her a sense of peace and happiness. That very opportunity presented itself by way of joining Pilates on the Beach, which opened its doors in 2008, as an original co-owner. Helping to build Pilates on the Beach and eventually Pilates in the Grove (which opened in 2010) from the ground up, Shana, also a talented graphic designer, created the company’s logo, Website and marketing materials.

But it didn’t take long for her to discover the powerful physical and mental benefits of Pilates, particularly after the birth of her third child. Intrigued and inspired by the science and method behind Pilates, she set out to train and earn her Pilates certification through Polestar Education. And the rest is history.

An active volunteer with various community projects, including the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless, Shana resides in Miami Beach with her husband and their three children.
